Race Report

What a beautiful day. Spring is here!
Congratulations Annie Bramley - that was the ride of the day: a three minute PB for a course record.
Ian Skidmore topped the PBs list: he spent six minutes less time on the course today than previously and David Equid was a minute quicker - but he had done a few extra laps placing additional trail marking and then later removing it. That was all for the good - we didn't lose anyone, going off-course. Troy reckoned the conditions were the best we've ever had but he'd also helped to make them so. Carolyn Equid had got Paul Van der Walt underway managing the regos before she counted riders off the start line; Paul joined the timekeeper across the track and Iain MacLennan called bib numbers as riders made the treacherous, gravelly approach to the finish line. David, Carolyn, Troy and Alison had everything set up and were considering what would serve as an alternative timing system by the time I arrived and, finally, several hours later, Alison presented the Panther to Luke Johns - he and Stu Helm had shared the honours at the head of the table with Annie and Tania, all in their respective categories - but he gracefully declined the offer to take her (the Panther) home with him. And Alison fed us cake! How good is that? It was a sort-of birthday cake - a celebration of the 21st anniversary of Panther rides. Thank you Alison and thank you all.
